Hey, my ForevaBlack family, welcome back! In today’s blog, the topic is stepping out on faith. We’ve talked about faith before, but we have never talked about stepping out on it. Faith is something we should all have, but I get it... sometimes needing to have faith and stepping out on something that cannot be seen is scary. You may have moments where you say, “What if I fail?” or “I’ve done this before, I’m scared to do it again.” Your faith has to cancel out your fear. Faith carries significance and it brings resilience, hope, and mental well-being.
Faith is about taking bold steps and acting even when you’re not 100% sure. God teaches us to have faith and put our trust into Him. For example, in Matthew 14 Jesus calls out to Peter to step out of the boat and onto the water; Peter didn’t know if he’d sink or stay above the water, but Jesus said to keep his eyes on Him and to just walk towards Him. Peter was doing good, until fear and doubt begin to come in because instead of keeping his eyes on Jesus... he looked around at the scary scenery around him. I stated this example because this is how it looks in our life at times, God calls us to something and at first, we trust Him a little but then we begin to become fearful. The enemy will try to bring fear, doubt, and confusion and we will lose our faith in God for what He has called us to.
Sometimes God calls us for that job, or call us to that school, he calls us to start that ministry, to pack up our things and move to another location. Also, sometimes there are some things we want for ourselves but fear the results. For example, wanting to take those actions towards therapy to get your mental together, or choosing to build different lives for us than we had before. Having faith in God with these things and trusting Him fully can help us mentally as well and not physically. Fear can try to destroy us mentally as well and try to keep us stagnant where we are. Mentally, you will tell yourself you cannot or that you shouldn’t do it... but we have to speak life to our mind and keep our faith in the one who makes all things possible.
If you’re standing at a crossroads today, unsure of your next step, let this be your reminder that God is with you. Isaiah 41:10 promises, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Stepping out on faith doesn’t mean you won’t face challenges. It means you’re choosing to trust God’s plan over your own fears. Whether it’s taking a leap toward healing, pursuing a dream, or letting go of what no longer serves you, remember that faith makes the impossible possible.
Scriptures:
Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Psalm 37:23-24 “The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.”
Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
I love you all, and I hope you learn something from this. Do not allow fear to hold you back! Everything we want and what God desires for us is on the other side of that fear.
